Adam SCOTTIE

SCOTTIE, Adam Passed away on December 24, 2010 in his 89th year. Born February 2, 1922 in Sandy Lake, Manitoba to poor immigrant parents. Adam had six siblings. His mother died following his birth and he was taken home and raised by the area midwife, Jessie Shandalla. He grew up with foster siblings, the late Mary Ewasko, Kay Mahnach, Carrie Misanchuk, John, Charlie Shandalla of Manitoba, the late Margaret Andreychuk of Hamilton, the late Jessie Marcino of Alberta, the late Lena Andreychuk of Hamilton and is survived by Stella Zahodnik of Hamilton. At the age of eighteen Adam was called to military service. He was never one to speak of his war years, though he was wounded in Belgium and is a decorated Veteran. His injury caused him to be hospitalized overseas as well as in Canada. Adam was employed by National Steel Car until his retirement. He leaves to mourn his widow, Eleanor, stepson David Hughes of Springfield, Illinois and stepdaughter Amy Hughes of Peterborough, Ontario. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the MARLATT FUNERAL HOME, 195 King Street West, Dundas on Friday, January 7th at 3 p.m. with visitation one hour prior. Donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
