CALDWELL, Mr. Alexander Patterson "Alex" (retired Sargeant from the O.P.P) February 14, 1935 - April 13, 2010. Alex passed away with his loving family at his side in his 76th year at the PRHC Palliative Care Unit. Loving husband and best friend of 52 years to Marie (nee Newton). Devoted father of Dave (Liz), Dan (Sandy) and Debbie Baker (Scott). Cherished grandfather of Kevin, Cody, Riley, Reece, Jackson and Sam. Dear brother of Bessie Bone , Mary Gethons (Don), Noni Ney (Jim), Predeceaced by his parents Lena and Ivan Caldwell and his brothers George and Jack. Alex will be sadly missed by his sister-in-laws Donna Caldwell and Margaret Newton and his many nieces and nephews. Alex came to Peterborough in 1952 to work at Sunshine Dairy. In May 1962 he joined the Peterborough Detachment of the O.P.P until his retirement in 1993. After his retirement Alex enjoyed his time by being a shuttle driver for Douglas Automotive as well as with the Canadian Cancer Society as a volunteer driver. Friends will be received at the NISBETT FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL 600 Monaghan Rd., S., Peterborough on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to Celebrate Alex's Life on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Nisbett Chapel. Interment Highland Park Cemetery. Reception to follow in the Nisbett Reception Centre. In memory of Alex donations may be made to the Lung Association or a Charity of your choice.
