HARRISON, John David John passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Freeport Health Centre Palliative Care Unit, after greeting each day with optimism and humour that endeared him to everyone. Sweet and beautiful husband of Paige (nee Balm) Harrison for fifteen years. Doting and adored father of Alexie, age fourteen; Chad, age eleven and Leah, age eleven. Treasured son of Joseph and Mildred Harrison and step-son of Alta Zeller. Cherished brother of the late Doug Harrison, and survived by brother Ken Harrison, sisters Joyce Cormier (Larry Williams), Everille Flood (Rodger). Loving son-in-law of Edwin and Cecilia Balm who watched over John with pure love and adoration. Much loved brother-in-law of Parrish Balm (Michael Neilands), Carlton Balm (Kim Stoner), Cheryl Balm (Stefan Kok). John is survived by many nieces and nephews. John leaves wonderful memories of many happy times with his family and countless friends, who will deeply miss him. John knew right from a very young age, life is about choices that affect you in the moment and for the rest of your life. John lived in the moment. He chose to live a good and positive life that was dedicated to fitness and good health. John managed the corporate fitness centre at Sun Life Financial (formerly known as The Mutual Group, then Clarica, where he met his wife Paige). John worked at Sun Life Financial for over 25 years. John resembled all things sweet and gentle and this is how he saw everyone around him. His beautiful blue eyes were his special trade mark - warm, pure and caring. To be seen by John, you knew that you mattered, he always had time for you. His gentle nature was evident in all that he did. Once you met John, you had a true friend for life. John was a huge football fan, he soon became a huge soccer fan due to his three children playing rep soccer. John has instilled in Alexie, Chad and Leah a love of sports, clean competitiveness and to love each moment. John's greatest love, was his family. John's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick St., Kitchener 519-749-8467. There will be no visitation on Friday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's R.C. Church, 240 Hemlock Street, Waterloo on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. Father Con O'Mahony officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre, would be appreciated by the family (cards are available at the funeral home). It is with appreciation, gratitude and honour to have met the wonderful staff at Juravinski Cancer Centre - Dr Mukherjee, Robin Snelling and Diane DeRosa. Thank you for also becoming friends of John and Paige. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Elliot Williamson, whose dedication as a doctor and a close personal friend shone through each day for John and Paige, he just knew what to do. His knowledge and experience helped smooth John's path to God's Kingdom. Sincere thank you to Dr. Ward for taking care of John. A big thank you to Dr. Schwarz, nurses and caregivers at Freeport Health Centre Palliative Care Unit for their dedicated and wonderful care. Visit www.henrywalser.com for John's memorial.
