Rud L WHITING

WHITING, Rud L. (July 30, 1930 - February 13, 2014) M.P. Halton 1968-1972 Rud has voted Liberal for the last time. Walked down his last fairway and sunk his last putt and is resting comfortably in the clubhouse. He will be missed by his loving wife Sandra, children David (Jennifer), Stephen (Caroline), Paul, Jamie (Susan), Tracy (Richard), Lisa and Lori. Also survived by his siblings Pamela and Linda (John), nieces Nancy (Travis), Erika (Shaun), Kirsten (Karl) and twelve grandchildren. Born July 30, 1930 in Montreal to Lester and Netta Whiting. The family moved to Oakville in 1946 where Rud attended Oakville Trafalgar High School. Rud's passion for politics began when he was elected, while still in high school, President of the Young Liberals Association. In 1968 he won the Liberal nomination and went on to win the general election. While in Parliament he served on numerous standing committees, the most notable being Vice Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee. After leaving politics, as he liked to put it, at the express wish of the electorate, he joined Heslop Industries, a land development company with holdings in Georgetown, Erin and Florida, as Marketing Manager. In 1981 he joined ReMax Suburban Real Estate and enjoyed a successful real estate career. Inn 1991 he and seven other agents bought the company. His peers elected him President. He later retired and he and Sandra moved to Ridgeway. It was during his retirement years that he took up golf and although not tour material that idid not stop him from enjoying many happy and sometimes frustrating hours on the golf course. At Rud's request cremation has taken place, and Rud would like you to join his family for a celebration of his life at his home at 103 Maple Leaf Avenue N., Ridgeway on Tuesday April 1 at 2PM. The family wish to thank all the staff at the Palliative Care Unit at Douglas Memorial Hospital. They were angels. Arrangements entrusted to Niagara Funeral Alternatives, 905-894-0120.
