DRYNAN, Thomas Robert On June 25, 2014 at the Bob Kemp Hospice in Hamilton, after a short battle with cancer, just shy of his 78th birthday. Deeply missed by his loving wife of 27 years, Marju, his sons Dylan (Cristina) and Thomas (Tracie), his stepdaughter Linda (Rob), and their families, including six grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered by numerous siblings, nieces and nephews. Tom leaves a deep impression on his friends, those he has mentored, and on many former colleagues at McMaster University, Mohawk College, and Brampton Public Library where he ended his career as CEO. In retirement, Tom continued to maintain a librarian's commitment to intellectual freedom, critical investigation of issues, and to social justice, often resulting in heated debates! Tom loved Dundas and the view from Creekside, a stiff breeze against the mainsail, his long role as a Big Brother to Ian, winters in Naples, Florida, beach walks, world cruises, theatre, music and all the arts, cooking great food, and Highland Park scotch. Most of all, he cherished his family, especially Marju, the love of his life. At Tom's request, there will be no funeral. A commemoration of his life will be held at a later date in July. Donations to the Hamilton Arts Council (22 Wilson St., 2nd floor, Hamilton, L8R 1C5) in Tom's memory would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be made at www.marlattfhdundas.com
