DENNEY, Alan A man of tremendous intellect, character and wry humour, Alan emigrated from England to Canada in 1966. An immensely talented sculptor, he dedicated himself to his art with numerous exhibitions and public commissions. Alan later forged a second successful career as communications consultant with Intercedent Inc. and RGA in St. Louis. He was a devoted proponent of the arts and served on many boards and committees. His sculpture "The Denney" is given annually at the Waterloo Region Arts Awards. He was a dedicated volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross and passionate about environmental issues. A true cigar aficionado, he loved winter trips to Cuba and summers on Ipperwash Beach at Lake Huron. Alan was the son of Iris Denney (Middlesborough, England) and cherished friend of Sally Smith (St. Louis) and Rob, Susanna, Miles and Alex Paynter (London, ON). He died peacefully July 26, 2015 from brain cancer. A donation to St. Joseph's Hospice (London, ON), where Alan received such kind care, would be appreciated.
