IN CELEBRATION OF FAMILY CROUGH, Alma Kathryn In this tender time of remembering our precious Alma, we are saddened to announce her death on May 21st, 2016 at Fairhaven, Peterborough. Born on November 18th, 1934, Alma was the fourth child of Ambrose and Kathleen Crough. Nestled in the heart of her family and rooted in the setting of Crough's General Store in Ennismore, Alma's years were fully lived alongside her siblings Norma Crossman (Joe), Dorothy Moloney (Tim), Betty Doyle (Eddie), Eleanor Young (Bobby), Billy Crough (Carol), Geraldine Butterfield (Bob) and Paul Crough (Judy). Alma was the adored aunt of twenty seven nieces and nephews who now treasure a richly stocked General Store of memories which speak clearly to the lasting imprint she has left on their lives. In unwavering faith, Alma served her God, supported others in prayer and belonged to The CWL of St. Martin's Church for over fifty years. Alma was intensely proud of her Holy Land Citizenship. For the greatest portion of her life, Alma could be found behind the counter of the store or at the service desk in the post office. When Alma moved to Peterborough in 2002, she began the daily ritual of combing through the local papers for any mention of Ennismore and the people she came to know so well. Alma was thrilled beyond measure to open the May 5th, 2015 edition of The Peterborough Examiner and see the image of a helium filled balloon rosary as it was launched into the Ennismore sky by the community of St. Martin's School. It was a snapshot telling the story of a beautiful moment in time, just as the photograph above. Pictured with her niece, Kendra Crough Willis, Alma lives in the present and embraces the gift of family. Some call forth the humility in others. Some raise others to soaring heights. Alma Kathryn Crough did both. Family and friends will be welcomed at DUFFUS FUNERAL HOME, 431 George Street South, Peterborough on Wednesday, May 25th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.. Alma's funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 26th at 11:00 a.m. at ST. MARTIN'S CHURCH, ENNISMORE. Burial will take place at St. Martin's Cemetery with a reception immediately following in the church hall. In acknowledgement of the nurturing atmosphere tirelessly fostered at Fairhaven, donations to The Fairhaven Foundation will be gratefully received. Online condolences may be made at www.duffusfuneralhome.com Alma's surviving family of Eleanor, Paul, Judy, Carol and her twenty seven nieces and nephews envision the Legion of Loved Ones welcoming her into The Eternal and Holy City and are comforted in their earthly loss.
