William (Bill) McARTHUR

McARTHUR, William (Bill) March 5 1936 - June 4, 2016 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William McArthur in his 80th year. Bill was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and came to Canada in 1967. Bill worked in construction till 1970 then went to work at J.M. Schneider where he retired after 28 years. He had a great passion and love for football (soccer). He played in Scotland and then in Canada on the KDSL Kitchener Rangers and many other teams. He coached for Kitchener Minor Soccer and Waterloo Soccer club starting in 1977 till 2009. During that time he coached his son Alastair and his grandsons Nicholas, Damon and Travis. You could also find him at the AR Kaufman YMCA, working out and volunteering every Tuesday and Thursday setting up playing and coaching soccer in the gym. He started Volunteering on February 1, 1999. He loved the Hearts of Midlothian F.C., along with Manchester United and the Toronto Maple Leafs. He will be greatly missed by his wife Wilma of 59 years his daughter Sally and son Alastair. He will be especially missed by his grandsons Nicholas, Damon and Travis and great-grandson Joshua. He will also be missed by his sister Jess and sisters-in-law Catherine and Margret, brother-in-law Ian and his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his daughter Wendy, mother Jessie and father William, mother-in-law Wilhelmina, father-in-law George, brothers; James, Alex and Robert, brother-in-law Douglas and sister-in-law Jean. Thank you to the 3rd floor and CCU at St. Mary's Hospital for your care and compassion and to his doctors, Dr. Desouza, Dr. Rennie, Dr. Jolli and Dr. Strban. As per Bills wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of life held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. in the Williamsburg Cemetery Dedication Centre, 1541 Fischer Hallman Road, Kitchener. Interment to Follow. In lieu of flowers Donations can be made to Canadian Tire Jump Start, St. Mary's Hospital Foundation or AR Kaufman YMCA.

My heart goes out to you all. I have no words to heal your heart but wish I did. Sally & Al, your Dad was an awesome man. Sally, I will never forget how many times he would drive us to places or pick us up when need be. Always here if/when you need anything. <3
