Frank Joseph MAYER

MAYER, Frank Joseph Passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Villa, Dundas, on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at the age of 85. Frank Mayer was the beloved husband of the late Katherine (2014) for over 61 years. Together they emigrated from Budapest, Hungary in 1956. Much loved father of Sue Ricciuti (Rick) and Rob (Teresa). Proud grandfather of Paul, Sarah, Halley and Griffin. Dear brother of Miklos and the late Aniko. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. After completing his B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto (1958), Frank enjoyed a successful 33 year career with Stelco. As a true outdoorsman, Frank found peace when in the forest or on the water. He pursued his passions with enthusiasm, from his love of the outdoors as an avid fisherman and game bird hunter, to his creativity building model planes and trains, to his appreciation of travel, music and food. Frank had deep-rooted values such as devotion to family, integrity, honesty, empathy, strong work ethic and respect. He worked very hard to instill these values in his children and grandchildren, and has left them with endless memories and examples of a life well lived. A special thank you is extended to the wonderful people at St. Joseph's Villa for their compassionate care. A Service of Remembrance for Frank will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 1 p.m. A reception will follow at the funeral home. In keeping with Frank's wishes, cremation has taken place. For those who wish, donations in memory of Frank to the Alzheimer Society or St. Joseph's Villa Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family. www.smithsfh.com
