MAY, John On November 28, 2017 John died suddenly at Joseph Brant Hospital, surrounded by his family. John will be sadly missed by his dearly beloved wife of 66 years, Mavis, his daughter Janet and her husband, John McMulkin, and their children Lorraine and Neil (Courtney) and his son Peter and his wife Terry and their children, Amelia (Dan), Alex (Robin), Jacqueline (Erik) and great granddaughters, Casey and Evelyn. John is also survived by his sister Mary in England and numerous nieces and nephews living in England and Australia. Born on November 22, 1928 in Oldham England, he immigrated with his young family to Canada in 1964. A natural storyteller, John delighted family and friends with his tales of growing up in Northern England, meeting and marrying Mavis, joining the Royal Navy with best friend Bert, and adapting to life in Canada with an accent no one could understand. He saw humour and irony in every situation and loved people. However, he had little patience for sportscasters; he preferred to watch sports with the mute button on. The family thanks the wonderful Emergency and ICU staff of Joseph Brant Hospital for their excellent care of John. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of John's Life will take place at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333, on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 3-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Lung Association. www.smithsfh.com
