H. JOHN SLADE

H. JOHN SLADE August 29, 1942 - June 2, 2018 Passed away at home, most devoted and loving husband of Janet, proudest father of James and Cindi Lee Kapps (Gary). A friend and brother-in-law to Willie, Joy and David Cochrane (Lynda) and John Holder. A very special Uncle to Wayne, Garrett (Laurel), Kathy (Ryan), Terry (Louise) and Lisa and their children. Predeceased by Sister Carole and Brother William. Survived by many family members and dear friends whom he considered his family in Canada, Scotland and Australia. John was a mentor, friend and ultimate fisherman who loved nothing better than to fish and share his vast knowledge of the sport with anyone who met him on or off the water. Special appreciation to John's family doctor and new angler Dr. Nagam El-Houssein, his visiting caregivers Tanya, Nellie and Sherri-Lee, 4E Cardiac Health Clinic Staff - Monika, Pam, Colleen, the Cardiology Staff at the Hamilton General Hospital, Dr. Denise Marshall, Sara and the entire Palliative and LHIN teams for their loving care during John's illness. Cremation has taken place, and to accommodate James' return from Australia, funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Mountainview Christian Reformed Church, 290 Main St E, Grimsby, ON L3M 1P8 at 11:00 a.m. with John's dear friend Pastor Sid Couperus presiding. Friends will be received at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. After the service, please join the family at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 127 Grimsby, 233 Elizabeth Street for refreshments and to talk fishing, as John would have wanted. No flowers please. If desired, memorial donations in John's memory can be made to: Mountainview Christian Reformed Church, Canadian Tire Jump Start, the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
