Douglas SIDER Obituary

SIDER, Douglas Gilmore Passed away at home on Friday February 8, 2019 in his 80th year. Doug Sider beloved husband and best friend to Janice for 56 years. Loving father to Jeff Sider and Jody Davidson (Ken). Proud grandpa of Brandon Sider, Randi Benson (Brandon), Julianna Davidson, Kurtis Davidson, Kassandra Davidson, Josie Davidson, Douglas Davidson and great-grandpa of Carter Benson and Addie Benson. Survived by his sisters Muriel Sider (Leonard), Louise McCombs (John), brothers-in-law Robert Shoalts (Tish), Gerald Moore, and sister-in-law Bonnie Hart (Russ). Predeceased by his parents Romie and Jean Sider, sisters Phyllis Weaver (Milton), Kathy Moore and sister-in-law Sandra Shoalts. Doug worked over the years running heavy equipment for Lester Shoalts Construction, Campbell Brothers and eventually retired from the Wainfleet Arena. He enjoyed painting and that became his retirement job until he became sick. Doug took great pride in every job he did. Doug was a dedicated volunteer with the Marshville Heritage Festival and he made delicious Apple Butter for 28 years, the secret ingredient was that he made it with his family whom he loved dearly. Special thanks to Dr. Xu for all the home visits and your compassion. And to the ER and 3rd Floor nurses especially Dianne, we appreciated the care you gave. Visitation at JW Hart Funeral Home Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services in the Chapel on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 11:00 followed by cremation.
