Christopher John ELLERBECK

ELLERBECK, Christopher John With Overwhelming grief and sadness, family and friends announce the sudden, unexpected and tragic passing of Chris on Wednesday, February 6, 2019. Deeply mourned by his mum Anne, and his dearest friend and companion Mike. Chris was predeceased by his father Ron in April 2017, and his grandparents John and Deborah Mitchell and Francis and Edna Ellerbeck (Shapiro). He is survived by his aunts and uncles Tom and Sharon Clark of Florida, Robert and Laura Mitchell of Burlington and cousin Amanda Mitchell. Chris was a well-respected, knowledgeable and valued employee of CCOHS Hamilton and will be sadly missed by his many friends and co- workers in Hamilton, Burlington and Western Canada. He had wide and varied loves and interests including music - playing the tuba, movies, Scotland, finding and restoring old furniture, photography, and of course computers - he loved fonts! He faithfully watched jeopardy each night and texted his final answer to Anne. There are no words to express the loss we all feel. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street (One block north of City Hall), Burlington (905-632-3333) will take place on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Hamilton Food share or the S.P.C.A. www.smithsfh.com

It is with great sadness that I write this message to Anne about Chris from all his work friends at CCOHS. We meet special individual only a few times in our lives and I have to admit that Chris was a very special member of our family and to me a great friend. He was always smiling and willing to spend a few minutes to listen and always willing to share. He was helpful, generous and attentive to anyone how passed his cubicle. I can honestly say he was a good friend and a great teacher. Beth and I will forever be grateful that Chris came into our lives. Though we only knew him but a few short years, he changed our lives forever. My friend you will always be. Gerry and Beth Culina

Chris was a dear friend and dear colleague to everyone at the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety. He was our go-to guy for so many computer-related questions. He was our ray of sunshine. He is, and will continue to be missed by all. My deepest condolences to Anne, Mike and Chris' family and friends. May your good memories ease the pain of your grief.
