GRIFFIN, Walter Albert Newton February 21, 1920- February 8, 2019. WWII Veteran Passed away peacefully at The Perley Rideau Veterans' Health Centre in Ottawa on Friday February 8, 2019, in his 99th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife, of 52 years, Idena Griffin (Sept. 2016). Only child of Paul Griffin and Eva Smith of Perth, Ontario. Survived by a daughter, Lynda Tester, many nieces, nephews and a brother-in-law Al Holden. Walter was a member of the Royal Canadian Navy 1945-1946., Retired employee of the Drafting Department at General Electric Peterborough, and a member of Peterborough Masonic Lodge, Peterborough Naval Association and the Peterborough Royal Canadian Legion. Walter was also an avid golfer at Oakland Greens in Norwood, a downhill skier at Bethany and Devil's Elbow and bowler at Lakefield Bowl. Special thanks to his dedicated caregivers Carol Goldenberg, Ottawa, Nancy Smee, Peterborough and neighbors John and Cathy Lethangue, Peterborough. Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 14 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Masonic Service at 11 a.m. followed by a Legion service at 11:20 a.m. and a Funeral service at 11:30a.m. at NISBETT FUNERAL HOME 600 Monaghan Road, Peterborough.
