Raymond THOMPSON Obituary

THOMPSON, Raymond Phillip (Ray) Ray died peacefully, Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Ottawa. Ray spent the past year defying all odds, doctors and cancer itself, proving that ""attitude is everything"" and the will to live, and love from family and friends can be stronger than any medicine. He will be deeply missed by his children Peter (Karrie) and Jennifer (Dylan), and his two beloved grandchildren, Mallory and Conor. Ray is survived by his sisters Rita, Agnes and Sheila and his brother Gerald (Doreen)...and his beloved dog, Murphy. Ray had a long and successful career with Canadian Pacific Hotels. His notable accomplishments include managing the Skylon Tower in Niagara Falls, Lake Okanogan Resort in Kelowna, The Palliser Hotel in Calgary and the Skydome Hotel in Toronto, Ontario. He was an avid sports enthusiast and dog lover. Perhaps Ray's favourite sport to participate in was golf, as he enjoyed several rounds with friends and family. We are eternally grateful to the staff of the Ottawa General Hospital, Elizabeth Bruyere and St. Vincent Hospital in Ottawa. This past year would also not have been possible without the love and support Ray received from the Vanier Early Birds. A celebration of Ray's life will take place on April 13, 2019 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at the Pine View Golf Course on 1471 Blair Road in Ottawa, Ontario. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Association and Elizabeth Bruyere and St. Vincent Hospital would be appreciated. And if you want to remember Ray, hug a dog, have a positive attitude and live for the moment.
