Gregory MCBRIDE Obituary

MCBRIDE, Gregory Of St. Thomas and formerly of Dundas, where he lived over 40 years, passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, June 14, 2019, at the age of 81. Predeceased by his beautiful Dutch wife of 49 years, Geesje (Scholten) McBride (2013) and dearly loved father of Tammy (Dr. Rob Black) of St. Thomas and Sean McBride (Kristina) of Brantford. Much loved grandfather of Tom, Dan, Christine, Colleen, Darcy, Laura and Cameron. Dear brother of Anne Maher (late Mike) of Minden, Mildred LaFleche (Bob) of Peterborough and the late William McBride (1991). Sadly missed by several nieces and nephews. Gregory was born May 6th 1938, in Cobourg and grew up there. He was the son of the late William and Isabel (Lewis) McBride. Greg was retired from Ford of Canada in Oakville, after 34 years in the truck and car plants. His fierce love and dedication to his family and friends will always be remembered, as well as his quick wit and passion for hockey (yes folks, he was a Leaf fan!) Nothing could get in his way from spending time with family and attending his grandchildren's activities. The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Tuesday, June 18th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Angels' Church on Wednesday, June 19th at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Angels' Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Foundation, Covenant House, Kidney Cancer Canada or Jumpstart. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Keeler, Laura Sheridan N.P., and the V.O.N. Palliative Home Care Team, and our help from staff at Nurse Next Dorr over the last years.
