Frances Alix JOHNSON

JOHNSON, Frances Alix July 30, 1930 - July 9, 2019
Blessed with a friendly, positive disposition, Alix was born in Belleville to Mary and Jerry McWain. Her sister Rosemary was born two years later and they remained the best of friends right up until Alix's passing. In 1950, a handsome redhead from Kingston, Elmer Maurice Johnson, swept her off her feet; they married in 1951 and moved to Toronto. They had daughters Catherine (David), Janet (Lori), Heather (Ken) and Kim (Gord) and son, Stephen (Katherine). Alix later took enthusiastically to being a Grandma, doting on Brianna, Mackenzie, Teegan and Camryn. In 1988, Alix and Elmer built "River Bend", their dream home on the Black River near Washago and retired to blissful country living. They also became "surrogate" grand parents to neighbours Kyle and Meco. When Elmer died in 2011, Alix was fortunate to be able to stay in their dream home by herself for 8 years. A huge thanks to Inge, Andrea, Sandra, Dianne and Andy for helping to make it possible. She was able to feed and watch her beloved birds and chipmunks every day - what a lucky lady! Alix passed away peacefully on July 9, and she will be missed by everyone who knew her. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice Simcoe in Barrie. Condolences may be left at peacefultransition.ca
