Charles HAZZARD Obituary

HAZZARD, Charles Jeffery It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Charles Jeffrey Hazzard, in his 96th year. Charles/Papa passed away peacefully with his daughter Elaine by his side at the Sunnybrook Veterans Center, Scarborough on August 2, 2019 at 6:20 a.m. Charles was a loving husband to Marion (Palmer) Hazzard (pre-deceased), loving father to his four children, Loretta Lee, Maureen Willis, Elaine Hazzard, and Kenneth Hazzard. Loving grandfather to his seven grandchildren Ryan Lee, Jason Lee (predeceased), Ray Cochrane, Sheila Willis, Crystal Robinson, Jessica Hazzard and Monica Hazzard and his six great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Makie, Zack, Aria, Aleea and Ava. Charles was born in November 1923 and was the youngest of eight children. He and his family lived on a farm in Silver Water, Manitoulin Island. Before joining the Second World War, Charles worked for a short time in the mines of Virginia Town where he met his wife Marion who happened to be visiting her Uncle at the time. In his spare time, you would find him tinkering in his garage building something for one of his children or grandchildren. He was always happy to lend a helping hand to neighbours, friends, and taking care of the local wildlife. Papa will be sadly missed by many. Charles was laid to rest with his wife Marion, on August 10th at the Bowmanville Cemetery with family in attendance. Family would like to thank the 2nd floor staff at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre, Scarborough for making his journey a peaceful and happy one. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends on Sunday, September 22nd from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Bowmanville Legion on King Street. Memorial donations to the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre would be appreciated. Online condolences may be made at www.courticefuneralchapel.com.
