Verna EMBURY Obituary

EMBURY, Verna May After a brief illness, Verna May Embury passed Sunday, October 6, 2019, at Kawartha Lakes Extendicare in Lindsay, Ontario. She was born March 11, 1926, at home, to the late Lizzie (Bailey) and Bruce Clifton Embury, of Madoc, Ontario. She dedicated herself to a career in nursing, having trained at Oshawa General Hospital, graduating in 1953. She worked briefly at Tavistock, Ontario and then settled in Lindsay and worked at Peel Memorial Hospital until her retirement. She was immensely proud of her home, which she shared with her beloved Pomeranian dog ""Joy"". She was also involved in leadership positions with Girl Guides Canada for over 40 years and enjoyed going camping at every opportunity. Verna was predeceased by her parents, brother Elmer, sisters Lillian (Kelvin) Morrison and Marion Embury. She is survived by twin sister Vera Embury, of Belleville, Ontario, nieces Judith (Dennis) Laffan, Jean (Randy) Barre, Nancy (David) Roach and nephew Gordon Morrison and numerous great-nieces and nephews. We would like to thank the staff at Kawartha Lakes Extendicare and a special thank you to Bev and Castle Keep for their continued support and exemplary care for our aunt Verna in her final years of life.
