Paul NEELANDS Obituary

NEELANDS, Paul Passed away peacefully at Carpenter Hospice on November 6, 2019 at the age of 79. He will be greatly missed by Valerie, his loving wife of 53 years, his 'girls' and 'the Ryans', Trisha (Ryan Hamilton), and Jill (Ryan Kelly), and his grandchildren, Madison, Cole, Shae, and Fionn. Paul was born in Hamilton, Ontario on April 10, 1940 to Reg and Muriel Neelands. He was the eldest brother of Bette (Dennis Ribant), Linda (Fred Speck), and Noel (Terry). Paul grew up in Aldershot and when married, established his family in Carlisle. Paul began Neelands Refrigeration Limited with his father in 1957 and successfully grew the company until his retirement in 2003. Paul had a passion for hard work and 'doing things right' and was greatly respected in his field. He was a mentor and an inspiration to those whom he led. Paul was an avid golfer and a lifetime member of the Burlington Golf and Country Club. His talents on the golf course and at the Bridge table were always appreciated by his teammates and friends. Paul was the Chair of the Greens Committee on the Board of Directors and worked to ensure an updated and re-engineered irrigation system came to fruition. In retirement, Paul and Valerie enjoyed travelling the world and spending winters in Florida golfing with friends at their home in Bobcat Trail Golf and Country Club. The 'Florida house' was the site of many fun family times for the kids and grandkids. These memories will be treasured and shared for years to come. Paul will be remembered by his family, many friends, and neighbours for his kindness, unmatched work ethic, fun-loving zest for life, his generosity, and of course, his famous smile. A special thanks to all at Joseph Brant Hospital and Carpenter Hospice who provided the most wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, a gift to the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation or Carpenter Hospice in memory of Paul would be greatly appreciated. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Paul's Life will be an evening cocktail party on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Burlington Golf and Country Club. Plan your Uber and come hungry.
