DeBRUIN, Anthony (Tony) Jacob 1934 - 2019 It is with great sadness the family announces his passing of Tony DeBruin on November 13, 2019 at the age of 85 on his farm. Beloved husband to Lydia who passed in 2008, caring father to Lillian (Perry Martos), Douglas (Jamie), Lisa (Julio Ulloa), and Diane (David Sawutz). He was the very proud grandfather to Zoe, Kyle, Caroline, Jake, Blake, Amanda, Ashley, Macy, Marilyn, and Bodie. Supportive brother to Jeannette (Nettie), Christian (predeceased), Corry, Anny, Coby (predeceased) and Maria (Ria). Born in Utrecht, Netherlands on January 28, 1934, Tony joined his sister Nettie in Winnipeg in 1956, moved to Montreal, and then Toronto to pursue civil engineering at the University of Toronto. During his career he was involved in the development of the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Scarborough Civic and Town Centres. During his retirement in Sunderland Ontario, he enjoyed the peace of country living and his farm animals. Services will be held on Saturday, November 23rd at 11:30 a.m. at Humphrey Funeral Home, 1403 Bayview Avenue, Toronto. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 305 Erskine Ave. If desired, lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the War Amps (www.waramps.ca) or the Ontario Farmland Trust (www.canadahelps. org/en/charities/ontario-farmland-tr ust/). A celebration of life will be held at the Sunderland Legion on Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m.
