O'NEILL, Nel (Bridget Ellen) Entered into rest at the Victoria Manor Nursing Home in Lindsay on Friday, November 29, 2019. Nel (nee Jessome) in her 90th year, was the beloved wife of Don O'Neill (Omemee) for 64 years. Much loved mother of Ed (Bonnie), Sherri (Joe Lucas), Dan (Sandra) and Randy (Susan). A loving grandmother of Angeline (Jo Thiboutot), Aaron (Elisha), Hayden (Veronica), Joshua (predeceased 1985), Justin Lucas (predeceased 2007), Adam Lucas (Adele), Devon (Megan), Mark (Julie), Richard (Charlotte), Brian (Ashley), Katelyn (Ron Martino) and Rebecca Sg. Missing grandma will be her 16 great-grandchildren (and counting) ranging from newborn to 13 years. Aunt and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews from coast to coast. Nel was predeceased by daughter-in-law Gwen and by both brothers, Dar (Stephen Francis) and Donald P. Jessome formerly of Florence, Cape Breton, NS. Nel was a graduate of St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. With her girlfriend Isabel, she traveled to Toronto and worked at Sick Kids for a year, then moved and worked in Calgary (where she met Don). While raising her children she worked part-time as a maternity nurse, starting at RMH in Lindsay about 1965, followed by St. Joseph's in Peterborough, and finally retiring from PRHC in 1990. She loved her mothers and babies. The family would like to thank the staff of Victoria Manor for their compassion and caring for Nel while she was in residence. Relatives and friends were invited to visit the family at the STODDART FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE , 24 Mill Street, Lindsay, Ontario K9V 2L1 (705-324-3205) on Monday, December 2nd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial from ST. LUKE'S CHURCH , Downeyville at 11 a.m on Tuesday, December 3rd with interment at St. Luke's Cemetery, Downeyville (Reception was at the hall).
