Joe ARCURI Obituary

ARCURI, Joe Passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at the Welland Hospital at the age of 86. Joe was born in Italy and came to Canada with his family in 1953 and settled in Welland. He was a proud Italian Canadian, never forgetting all those that helped him along the way when he first came to Canada. In 1960, he started Mio Brio Distributing. After a successful 20 years in business, he and his wife Assunta started Arcuri's Cheese World in 1982, retiring after 34 years in 2017. Joe had a zest for life and loved serving his customers and friends at the deli. He will always be remembered for his kind heart, funny story telling and great sense of humor. Joe first and foremost was a devoted family man, loving husband; he was extremely proud of his family. Joe will be forever missed by his loving wife of over 60 years, Assunta Arcuri. Cherished father of Mario (Judy), Rachel (Domenic) Polito and Laurie. Devoted and proud grandfather of Marisa, Stephen (Giulia), Julian, Adrianna, Nicholas, Bianca, Christian, Brianna, Jacob, Sophia and Charles. Proud great-grandfather of Rosalia. He will also be sadly missed by his sisters Mary (Peter) Bonacci, Joanne (Norm) Guay, brother Phil (Diana) Arcuri, and his sister-in-law Ruth Arcuri. Joe will also be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews, cousins and his close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Rachela Arcuri, his brother Gabriel Arcuri. The Arcuri family will receive friends at J.J. Patterson & Sons Funeral Residence 19 Young Street, Welland on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Vigil Prayers will be recited Wednesday at 2 o'clock. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. Rite of Committal to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in memory of Joe may be made to Niagara Health Foundation, Welland Site or to St. Mary Church or St. Kevin Church.
