POWELL, David Robert Loving son of Robb and Karen Powell, and an amazing big brother to Jordan, Luke, Sarah and Elise, passed into the presence of Christ on Friday, December 11, 2009 at the age of 22. Words can neither describe our gratitude to God for blessing us with such a special gift, nor our sorrow for his loss. A student at the University of Waterloo, in the faculty of Civil Engineering, David brought a dimension of joy to our family and into the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him. He was a loyal friend with a love of sports, the outdoors, good music, and his family. Those who knew him enjoyed his sense of fun and adventure. He was an ardent worshiper of the God he loved and radiantly served. Overcoming serious hurdles, he was emerging into a strong, compassionate young man. The world is poorer for his loss. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of the QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Tuesday, December 15th, 2009 from 5-9 p.m. There will be a Memorial Service celebrating David's remarkable life at Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church, 1401 Guelph Line (at Palmer Dr.), Burlington on Saturday, December 19th, 2009 at 10:30 am, with refreshments to follow. We would be so pleased if you could join us. In lieu of flowers or gifts, we would be pleased to collect in his honor donations to either Lift Church (McMaster University) or The Embassy (University of Waterloo), both of which he considered his spiritual communities during his student life.
